Tips on Playing the Solitaire Card Game
For those that are new to this game, there are certain rules or
restrictions that you have to follow. The processes of the game are
based on these rules. In the Klondike version of solitaire, this is the
most popular version of the game, the rate of winning maybe a little low
for a beginner player. This is because some rules of the game are not
understood well by the player. The following are some tips in how to
play the game and win it.

- Move Cards whenever they are available – Do not be afraid to
move cards in the stack whenever you see one available. Moving an
ace of clubs with a 2 of hearts below it to an ace of diamonds would
seem a wasted move. However, this will make the 2 of hearts
available for moving to the foundation. People usually miss these
kinds of moves because it seems irrelevant to the game.
- Remember the cards drawn from the deck – In a standard Klondike
solitaire card game, you will draw three cards at a time and will be
able to view those three cards but can only move the top card. Try
to remember the places of the cards so that if you remove one card
from the deck, you will know the cards that are most likely on the
top of the three-card draw. This will allow you to plan a strategy
on moving the cards in a way that they will not end in a dead lock.
- Scan the table after drawing a card – Veteran Klondike solitaire
players hardly look at the upturned cards on the table while drawing
cards. This is because they have already memorized the cards
available. This is a bit hard to do, so to be on the safe side, scan
the upturned cards ever time you make a draw to ensure that all the
available moves are covered. If you are opting to finish the game
fast for a high score, try remembering just the top upturned cards.
This will be easier than having to memorize all the upturned cards
in play.
- Always move aces or a two to the foundations – This strategy is
logical since you will only be able to complete the game if you have
moved all the cards into the foundation. Thus, first goal is to
upturn as many cards as you can and move them to the foundation.
- Reveal downturned cards from columns with most cards – If you
have several choices as to which card you are going to move in order
to reveal a downturned card, always opt for the stack with most
cards. This is for the reason that the probability of upturning a
card that will be moved to other columns or stacks is much higher.
- Do not empty a column if you do not have a king to put in it
–
In Klondike solitaire, only a king or a sequence starting with a
king can be placed in an empty column.
